Centennial Park
Located in the heart of downtown Bennington, Centennial Park is a community gathering space surrounded by mature trees, open lawn, and the activity of downtown. The park features a gazebo, playground, picnic areas, and plenty of open space for families to enjoy. Its central location also puts it within easy walking distance of local businesses and other downtown attractions.
The Bennington Public Library sits directly alongside the park, making Centennial a natural extension of the library’s community programming. The park is regularly used for summer reading activities, family programs, and other library events, bringing people outdoors and making use of the space throughout the warmer months.
Centennial Park has also long been part of Bennington’s community events and celebrations, including Bennington Daze. Its connection to Warehouse Street allows the City to expand the usable event space when needed, such as during the farmers market. Together, the park, library, and surrounding downtown area create a central gathering place that serves a variety of community activities throughout the year.
Tim Ohrt Park
Located between the entrance to the Ridgewood subdivision and Prairie Hollow, Tim Ohrt Park is a neighborhood park designed to provide both everyday recreation and a place for larger neighborhood gatherings. Its location allows visitors to access the park from either side, with parking available along both neighborhoods and a walking bridge connecting the two open space sections of the park.
The park includes playground equipment, a picnic shelter, open green space, and natural areas, giving families plenty of room to play, gather, or simply enjoy some time outdoors. The combination of open space, accessible parking, and the pedestrian connection between the two sides makes Tim Ohrt Park a particularly useful gathering space for the surrounding neighborhoods.
Johns-Bohn Park
Located on the west side of Bennington along Bennington Road, Johns-Bohn Park is a roughly 9-acre neighborhood park tucked alongside the Big Papillion Creek. Just west of the elementary school and connected to the community trail system, it’s an easy spot to reach whether you’re coming to play, walk, or just enjoy some time outside.
As one of Bennington’s larger neighborhood recreation areas, Johns-Bohn offers soccer fields, a playground, sand volleyball courts with new LED lights, multipurpose trails, and a picnic pavilion. The park also reflects the community’s long tradition of civic organizations contributing to local amenities, including the Lions Club pavilion, which has seen many renovations over the years through club, personal, and business donations.
Doug Nelson Sports Complex (Baseball, Basketball, Disk Golf)
Located within the Bennington Park subdivision, the Doug Nelson Youth Sports Complex provides dedicated space for organized youth athletics through the Bennington Athletic League. For visitors arriving from 156th Street, signs directing you toward the “ball fields” provide an easy route into the complex.
The fields help accommodate the growing number of youth sports programs in Bennington, giving local teams a dedicated place to practice and compete throughout the season. The complex has become an important part of the community’s recreational system, bringing together players, coaches, families, and spectators from across Bennington.

Neumeyer Soccer Complex (Currently in Phase 2)
Located near the Kempton Creek subdivision on the southwest side of Bennington’s city jurisdiction, Neumeyer Farm Park represents the next generation of the community’s park system. The large site is being developed as a multifunctional recreation and open space destination, combining traditional park amenities with features that reflect Bennington’s agricultural roots.
Plans for the park include athletic fields, walking trails, open green space, a pavilion, farm-themed play areas, and a splash pad. The variety of planned amenities will give residents a place to participate in organized sports, walk the trails, gather with family and friends, or simply enjoy the open space. As Bennington continues to grow toward the southwest, Neumeyer Farm Park will provide a significant new recreation area for the surrounding neighborhoods and the broader community.
